In October 2020, Boncom was invited to help create and share a vital – and viral – joint message from the Democratic and Republican candidates running for Utah governor. In an unprecedented joint video statement, Democratic candidate Chris Peterson and Republican candidate Spencer Cox took the stage together to call for Utahns to practice an added measure of unity and civility no matter the outcome of the U.S. presidential election. Cox and Peterson asked everyone to seek a peaceful transition of power and to #StandUnited as a country.
Working closely with the candidates, the Boncom team created a series of public service announcements for TV and radio, a paid media schedule, and supplementary influencer and public relations efforts to help distribute the message across the state.
Reporters, notable names, influencers, and everyday people across the world shared, retweeted, and commented on the videos, applauding and celebrating the civility of the message.
The videos became exceptionally popular on Twitter after being shared by both candidates. Within the first three hours, the videos received 12 million impressions and thousands of mentions, with many tweets coming from politicians, celebrities, businesses, influencers, and more.
